Vendar obzidja v 13. in 14. stoletju niso slu\u017eila zgolj kot obrambni sistem, ampak so tudi lo\u010devala mesta pred fevdalnim pode\u017eeljem, kajti veljalo je, da mestni zrak osvobaja.<\/p><p>V 13. stoletju nastanejo prva mestna obzidja v Kopru, Izoli, Ljubljani, Kranju, Mariboru, Kamniku, Ptuju in Slovenj Gradcu, ki pa so bila skromna obzidja brez obrambnih stolpov.\u00a0<\/p><p>V Mariboru je bilo zgrajeno geometri\u010dno najbolj pravilno obzidje na Slovenskem. Med letoma 1255 in 1275 mesto dobi \u0161tiristrani\u010dno obzidje s 500 metrov dolgimi in skoraj ravnimi stranicami.\u00a0<\/p><p>Obzidje je zajemalo prostor med Dravo, Strossmayerjevo, Gregor\u010di\u010devo in Svetozaversko ulico. So\u010dasno z obzidjem je bil zgrajen tudi Minoritski samostan, ki je naslonjen na obzidje, ter judovska naselbina.<\/p><p>Izgradnja obzidja je prekinila prometni red ter povezavo med mosti\u0161\u010dem in Koro\u0161ko cesto. Za\u010dela se je oblikovati uli\u010dna mre\u017ea v vzhodnem delu mesta, nastala je Gosposka ulica, ki je povezovala lo\u010dena dela naselbine, povezala je trg in vas, s \u010dimer se je ustvaril enoten mestni organizem.\u00a0<\/p><p>Prvotno obzidje je bilo visoko 8\u201310 metrov in debelo okoli 1 metra. Na notranji strani je bil 2,5 metra pod vrhom lesen pokrit povezovalen hodnik.\u00a0<\/p><p>V obrambnem sredi\u0161\u010du je bil stolp, ki je danes zvonik stolne cerkve. Pred obzidjem je bil 20\u221230 metrov \u0161irok vodni jarek, vendar kljub vsemu obzidje ni bilo zmo\u017eno obvarovati mesta pred rasto\u010do tur\u0161ko nevarnostjo ter novimi napadalnimi tehnikami, predvsem strelnemu oro\u017eju. Obzidje je bilo vedno znova potrebno obnove in popravil. Leta 1548 Dominic de Laloa izdela na\u010drt za izbolj\u0161ave in tako v obdobju naslednjih 13 let zgradijo utrdbo na Koro\u0161ki cesti na zahodu mesta, prav tako pa se v 14. stoletju za\u010dnejo na zidu izbolj\u0161ave z gradnjo vogalnih stolpov in \u0161tiri preprostih utrdb ob mestnih vratih. Dodatno utrjen zid pa uspe\u0161no \u0161\u010diti mesto pred vdori naslednjih 150 let.\u00a0<\/p><p>Po prenehanju nevarnosti so se utrdbe zapustile in nehale vzdr\u017eevati. Skozi obzidje so se za\u010dele prebijati ulice in srednjeve\u0161ko obzidje je postopoma za\u010delo izginjati, ve\u010dina obrambnih stolpov in utrdb se je poru\u0161ilo, vodni jarek se je zasipal. Glavne sledi stare mestne urejenosti so tako bile do konca 20. stoletja popolnoma izbrisane.\u00a0<\/p><p>Do danes so se ohranili Vodni, Sodni, \u017didovski in \u010celigijev stolp, grajska bastilija, najdemo lahko ostanke utrdb ob nekdanjih Koro\u0161kih vratih, dele obzidja najdemo tudi na zahodni in ju\u017eni strani ter v histori\u010dnih objektih, ki so jih v \u010dasu nastanka naslonili na obzidje.\u00a0<\/p><p>Kot posledica zajezitve Drave, zaradi katere se je gladina dvignila za 2,5 metra, se je morala podreti bastilja Benteke, kjer danes najdemo travnat pomol. Pred podobno usodo pa je bil re\u0161en Vodni stolp, ki ga je re\u0161il arhitekt Jo\u017ee Po\u017eavk z briljantno idejo, da se stolp dvigne za 2,6 metra. Projekt dvigovanja 1500 ton te\u017ekega stolpa je trajal 7 mesecev. Ima kamnite zidove s strelnimi linami. Ime je dobil po znamenitih mariborskih pivovarjih Tschligijih. V osnovi je bil zgrajen v 14. stoletju, na novo pa je bil podzidan leta 1540, ko so mu dodali sto\u017e\u010dasto streho, ki je v 17. stoletju zgorela. Povezan je s \u010darovni\u0161kimi procesi in je ime dobil v \u010dasu, ko v njem izrekali sodbe \u017eenskam, ki so bile spoznane za \u010darovnice.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section
